My Brother's Advocate

Author Pamela Jey based this story on the murder of her brother, using the real autopsy and crime scene information from his case. Pamela & her children live in a small town in Delaware. My Brother’s Advocate is her first novel.

Not everyone suffers the death of a loved one through murder; though there are a countless number of those who have. A cowardly act of violence forever devastates the lives of too many; young and old, and everyone in between. This story is for them.

My brother, John was twenty-seven years old and the father of three young children when he was callously murdered in July of 1992; the day before the sixth anniversary of our own mother’s death. What made the loss more agonizing was it came after a lifetime of abuse that spanned generations. John’s murder has profoundly affected the way I view my responsibilities. I believe it is my duty to allow others to witness and to understand how severely abuse affects a child. That’s why I am My Brother’s Advocate.

I have spun a tale around that tragic, life-altering event. Appealing to the contemporary interests regarding crime scene investigations, spirituality, humor, and the increase in crimes against children; this story tugs at your heart, mind and soul. Engaging, thought provoking and fast paced story, this saga is about love, loss and a longing to fit in. It exposes inexcusable abuse suffered by innocent children by ruthless offenders. It is also an avenue to convey the battle involving good and evil, specifically the possibility of angelic visitations and the presence of evil spirits.

A current Domestic Diva and Parent Extraordinaire, Pamela Jey is aspiring to drown out the call of the wild, (i.e. my children) by becoming another household name, in addition to “Mom.” I unbelievably managed to find the time to pen a novel in addition to my regular chores.

Determined that I would share John’s story, and in doing so mine; it took me twelve years to begin my novel and three years to complete it. Undeniably, I spent a considerable amount of time mourning my brother’s death. As the mother of six children, factoring in a divorce, a child with autism, another extremely allergic and asthmatic child, my own health issues and it becomes understandable how the years have slipped by. Nevertheless, I persevered and despite the challenges or perhaps because of them, I have achieved my objective.

My Brother’s Advocate” is a story promised to be written by me in memory of my brother. In paying homage to my brother I have chosen to use his initials, JEY in place of my own because love never wanes after death; rather it reverberates throughout the eternities.
